The name Andrew in Greek means “valiant” and “courageous”.

Saint Andrew was the first Christian Apostle and the elder brother of Saint Peter.  He was originally a disciple of John the Baptist but turned to Jesus when John identified him as the Lamb of God.

Patron: fishermen, fishmongers and rope-makers, textile workers, singers, miners, pregnant women, butchers, farm workers. The Patron of Scotland, Barbados, Ukraine, Russia, Sicily, Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Patras, San Andrés (Tenerife), Diocese of Parañaque, City of Manila, Amalfi, Luqa (Malta) and Prussia.
