Saint Peter

Feast day: June 29th.

The name originates from Greek and means ‘rock’.

Peter was the chief of the apostles and the first pope. After Jesus’ departure, he first led the Church in Jerusalem, then in Antioch, and finally in Rome. Initially, his faith was impetuous, as he was by nature simple, candid, and impulsive. In a bitter trial, when he denied the Lord three times, this love was purified, and he became a steadfast leader of the Church.

Patron saint of: mariners, virgins, stonemasons, blacksmiths, potters, butchers, carpenters, fishermen, sailors, glassworkers, watchmakers, popes, protection against rabies, fever, and thieves.
