Saint Hubert

 Feast day: November 3rd

The name comes from the Germanic language and means ‘bright-minded’.

Hubert lost his wife and only child early, so he sought solace in hunting. One day, while hunting alone, he saw a stag with a cross between its antlers in a clearing. Hubert took the symbolism very seriously and soon joined the priesthood, striving to spread the Christian faith.

Patron of: hunters and shooters, hunting dogs, butchers, furriers, turners, opticians, metalworkers, mathematicians; the Ardennes; against snake bites and fear of water.
